KOTA KINABALU (December 13): Buying affordable basic necessities just got easier for city dwellers with the opening of the second Kojasa Mart, an initiative of the investment arm of the state government, Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB).

The second Kojasa Mart store on the popular Anjung Selera resort in Likas was launched on Sunday by QSB Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima, Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

Kojasa Mart is operated by the subsidiary of QSB Kojasa Holdings Bhd.

The launch of the second outlet also marks a turning point for Kojasa Holdings Bhd, the company embarking on an entrepreneurship program similar to a franchise program to open at least 30 Kojasa Mart stores around Sabah during the year to come.

QSB Deputy Managing Director (Investment) Joehary Ismail said Kojasa Holdings will expand the entrepreneurship program with the aim of inviting young entrepreneurs to venture into operating future Kojasa Mart outlets through a license program. The program would be under the responsibility of Kojasa Trading Sdn Bhd.

“While Kojasa Mart stores will promote local products to stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) here, outlets in different neighborhoods will cater to various store owners,” he said, adding that this would help stabilize the prices of essential products. and ensure that they are affordable for low income groups B40 and M40.

“This reflects the core of QSB’s mission to align with the leadership of Sabah Maju Jaya,” Joehary added.

When opening the second Kojasa Mart store, Joehary noted that the launch took place just a month after the first store opened in Suria Inanam and that each performed a different function.

“The launch of our second outlet is important for the company as it reflects the direction of the management to offer a new destination for the grocery store, especially for the huge population of Likas, Luyang and other areas. of Kota Kinabalu, ”he said after the event.

“The First Store, on the other hand, is designed to cater for the online wholesale purchases of micro, small and medium-sized businesses. In this new outlet, we aim to provide a variety of grocery items, including local products, in order to stimulate the domestic market among local entrepreneurs, ”explained Joehary.

He said operations at Anjung Selera Kojasa Mart are assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) through a centralized monitoring system providing live updates on available inventory. This is the result of a collaboration between QSB and a local company, EPOST, through a memorandum signed on April 10 of this year.

“It is high time that our retail business moved from conventional to digital-based methods. In addition to maximizing the efficiency and developing the know-how of our employees, having a centralized monitoring system will reduce the risk of a disrupted supply chain and the need for intermediaries.

It is also the best way to ensure transparency and that is what we are aiming for at Kojasa Mart today, ”added Joehary.

He said Kojasa Mart is also working with local contractors and delivery service provider KOJAX Sdn Bhd to leverage the use of apps for customer deliveries within a 20km radius of Kojasa Mart’s respective outlet.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the fast approaching Christmas celebrations, Kojasa Mart is running the Kojasa Christmas Bundle promotion, offering 10 packages that include a mix of groceries such as cooking oil, rice, macaroni, pasta sauces and a variety of chocolates costing between RM25 and RM100 each. These promotional items can be purchased at Suria Inanam and Anjung Selera outlets.

Also present at the opening ceremony were QSB Executive Director Tuan Haji Mohd Shukor Abdul Mumin and Group Managing Director Ahmad Rizal Dahli and Kojasa Holdings Berhad Chairman Dato Baror @ Baharul Bin Sawi.
