Sabah‘s financial situation is stable: Auditor General’s report

Kota Kinabalu: The overall financial position of the Sabah State Government for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2019 was stable, according to the Auditor General’s report (AG report) released on Friday. The report states that the State Government Consolidated Fund recorded a decrease of RM 521.59 million or 13.8% to RM 3.25 billion in 2019, from RM 3.77 billion in 2018. During This time, its consolidated income account recorded a surplus of RM 214.24 million. , an increase of RM 151.66 million or 242.3% from RM 62.58 million in 2018.


“In 2019, state government revenue collection amounted to RM 4.26 billion; an increase of RM 105.46 million or 2.5% from the RM 4.15 billion collected in 2018, ”he said. The Auditor General’s report also noted that in 2019 a total of RM 974.43 million in development spending was approved and a total of RM 810.40 million was spent. He added that out of 760 projects that had been planned, 99 projects were completed, 445 are under implementation and 216 have not been executed. The outstanding loan balance increased by RM 3.88 million or 0.3% to RM 1.207 billion during the year, from RM 1.203 billion in 2018.


However, the report noted that it could not confirm the arrears balance as there had been differences in the arrears balance shown in the supporting documents. Meanwhile, the state government’s public debt arrears fell from RM 1.05 billion or 27.7 percent to RM 2.74 billion in 2019, from RM 3.79 billion in 2018. . “At the end of 2019, state revenue arrears increased by RM18.84 million. or 3.7 percent to RM 527.64 million compared to RM 508.80 million in 2018, ”he said. The report also indicated that 39 of the 45 public agencies had submitted their financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2019.
